Priscilla Boateng: Becoming a Chartered Accountant While Balancing, Work and Purpose

That single document represented months of intense preparation, focus, countless sacrifices,  a story of persistence and grace. What began as a simple dream to become a Chartered Accountant evolved into a journey that tested her strength, deepened her faith, and shaped her character.

The road to qualification was far from easy. During her fourth year as an Accounting student at the University of Cape Coast, Priscilla found herself navigating several demanding responsibilities simultaneously — final-year coursework, project work, internship duties, and ICAG professional exams.

At one point, she was preparing for her university exams while also sitting for ICAG papers, which really required strict discipline, planning, and resilience. This season of her life taught her the importance of balance, how to manage competing priorities, stay organised under pressure, and keep moving even when progress felt slow.

Priscilla completed the entire program in just three sittings, an impressive feat that reflected both commitment and efficiency. In July 2025, she sat for the Level 3 papers, and with thorough preparation, strong faith, and relentless effort, she passed all papers successfully. The moment she received her results brought overwhelming joy and gratitude, confirming that every late night and sacrifice had been worth it.

Beyond academics, Priscilla gained practical experience through the GearUp Analysts Program (GAP), where she served in the Corporate Finance role and dedicated over 15 hours weekly to real-world financial analysis and professional projects. Through GAP, she developed key analytical and teamwork skills while gaining deeper insight into how financial concepts apply in the corporate world. It became a transformative phase that strengthened her professional confidence and prepared her for future leadership roles.

 Leadership, Service, and Sisterhood
Outside academics and professional development, Priscilla found joy and fulfilment in service. She served as the Financial Secretary for the Glorious Ladies Assemblies of God Campus Ministry, where she learned valuable lessons in stewardship, accountability, and servant leadership. Her desire to empower others also led her to found a girls’ academic support group within her department. Her vision was to create a safe and supportive space for female students — a community where young women could learn, grow, and encourage one another. What began as a small circle of peers grew into a thriving network of motivated young women committed to academic excellence and personal growth. For Priscilla, that sense of sisterhood and impact remains one of her most meaningful achievements.

Lessons from the Journey
She learned that success isn’t just about speed, but about consistency, showing up every day, doing the work, and trusting the process and God’s timing. She also came to appreciate the power of community: mentors who guide, friends who support, and family who believe in your vision even before you fully see it yourself.

She’s a strong believer in “every milestone tells a story — one that says, you didn’t give up, and that made all the difference”, and that’s her encouragement to everyone reading this post.
